DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Cowboys have completed a deal with defensive tackle Dontari Poe, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported Wednesday.

Just two days ago, NFL.com's Jane Slater reported that Poe and the Cowboys were close to getting a deal done, and the signing was iminent.

A former first-round pick and two-time Pro Bowler, Poe was selected 11th overall by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2012 draft, where he started in 74 of the 78 games in which he played.

Poe then moved on to the Atlanta Falcons in 2017 on a one-year deal, before signing with the Carolina Panthers for the 2018 and 2019 seasons.

During his time in Carolina, Poe had 39 total tackles, 11 tackles for loss, nine quarterback hits, and five sacks.

With the signing of Poe, the Cowboys have now filled another glaring need along the defensive line, helping to fill a major gap in their run defense heading into the 2020 season.

Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 346 lbs, Poe should slide into the interior at nose tackle, where he and Antwaun Woods would form a dynamic rotation at the one technique spot.
