Memphis Tigers Football going to the AAC Championship vs. UCF

Memphis beat Houston to take AAC West Friday. Final: Memphis 52 Houston 31

November 23, 2018 - 3:54 pm

This season has been a winding road for the Memphis Tigers Football Team with devastating losses to Navy, Tulane, UCF, and Missouri. It didn't seem like Memphis was destined to appear in an American Athletic Conference Championship game rematch against the University of Central Florida (UCF).

But that's exactly what's happening for the Memphis Tigers behind another dazzling effort from Memphis running back Darrell Henderson. Henderson had 178 yards with 24 carries and 2 touchdowns. Memphis beat Houston 52-31 Friday (11/23) at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in front of an announced attendance of 27,790.  In the process Henderson set the American Athletic Conference season rushing record.

Despite two unsightly first half interceptions from Brady White, Memphis turned things around with the running game in the second half. Along with 178 yards from Henderson, Patrick Taylor pushed for 128 yards on 19 carries, and Tony Pollard had 83 yards on 11 carries.

AAC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME: December 1, 2018, vs. UCF at Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, NC.
