Is it Penny Time for Memphis?

Memphis East High School beat Cordova 72-41 and will go to their 4th straight Tennessee State Tournament appearance. East has multiple prized recruits on it's roster including James Wiseman and Alex Lomax.  Penny Hardaway coached Memphis East past the often talked about University of Memphis prospect Tyler Harris from Cordova.  But after the game, it was all love for Hardaway.

Now the attention has turned to rumors of Hardaway becoming the next University of Memphis head coach. Attendance at Memphis is at an all-time low. Tubby Smith makes $3-million per year, has a $20+ million practice facility with a team that plays in an NBA arena, and has a natural local recruiting base.  Many think Hardaway could tap into recruiting, put together a staff to create a winning team, and re-generate fan enthusiasm.  The suggestion has been that Hardaway might give Memphis a break with a lower salary to help Memphis with their buyout of Tubby Smith.
