Parsons playing 5-on-5 as $24-Million Dollar Practice Participant

December 24, 2018 - 8:18 am

Jaren Jackson was in during clutch time and buried a step back three on Lebron James to put the nail in the coffin as Memphis defeated the Lakers 107-99 ending a 5-game Memphis losing streak.  Sunday night's (12/23) game was a back-and-forth affair at Staples Center in Los Angeles the Memphis Grizzlies desperately needed to win and Jackson was the difference.

Jackson scored 27 points while playing 31 minutes adding 9 rebounds. Mike Conley was clutch in the 4th quarter with 11 points, scoring 17 total points with 8 assists in 35 minutes. Marc Gasol had 17, while Garrett Temple played a game-high 40 minutes scoring 14 points.

Grizzlies Coach JB Bickerstaff (AUDIO-click below for postgame) said he thought Memphis had some good things it did in Sacramento, the loss, that carried over to this game in Los Angeles.

Sideline notes:

There's continued speculation on the future of Chandler Parsons as a Grizzly now that it was reported he's able to play 5-on-5.  Essentially with Parsons set not to play "for the forseeable future" the Grizzlies are relegating him to a $24-million dollar roster-slot practice participant.

Omri Casspi (illness) and Joakim Noah missed their 3rd straight game Sunday night (12/23).

Meanwhile, Dillon Brooks played for the first time since November 10th against Philadelphia after suffering a freak knee injury rolling over a basketball.
