AJC Report: NCAA Finds "High-Level" Recruiting Violations at GTech/Pastner Program

March 14, 2019 - 11:36 pm

Josh Pastner, the former Memphis Head Basketball Coach, has not been charged with any violations as his attorney pointed out on Thursday (3/14). However, a report by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution noted that former Georgia Tech Assistant Coach Darryl LaBarrie and former Josh Pastner friend Ron Bell are being charged with violating NCAA regulations. You can read more about the allegations here.  These charges include attempts by Bell to influence former Memphis guard Markel Crawford to transfer to Georgia Tech (from Memphis).

It's noteworthy, as USA Today's Dan Wolken pointed out on Twitter Thursday, that Josh Pastner reacted promptly and wasn't charged by the NCAA of anything. Wolken will join the Gary Parrish Show on Friday afternoon.

Pastner was at the ACC Tournament Thursday and didn't comment on the matter.
